Bayān Talbīs al-JahmiyyaIbn Taimiya

because of the illness and hunger of the servant whom He loves, as He said:

“I have never hesitated over anything I am to do as I hesitate over taking the soul of My believing servant: he dislikes death, and I dislike causing him distress, yet he must undergo it.”

If mere comparison were intended, it would have been said: “Had you visited him, it would have been as though you had visited Me; and had you fed him, it would have been as though you had fed Me.” But this is false.
