[al-Isrā’ 57]
Their seeking the means of drawing near to their Lord, each seeking to be nearest, means seeking nearness to Him. Allah Most High says:
“O you who believe, fear Allah and seek the means of drawing near to Him.” [al-Mā’idah 35]
Allah Most High also says:
“Neither your wealth nor your children bring you nearer to Us. But those who believe and do righteous deeds will have a twofold reward for what they have done, and they will be secure in the lofty chambers.” (37) [Saba’ 37]
Allah Most High says:
“And the foremost—the foremost! (10) They are the ones brought near, (11) in Gardens of Bliss.” (12) [al-Wāqi‘ah 10–12]
He also says:
“If he is one of those brought near, (88) then there will be rest, bounty, and a Garden of Bliss.” (89) [al-Wāqi‘ah 88–89]
And He says:
“Its mixture will be of Tasnīm, (27) a spring from which those brought near will drink.” (28) [al-Mutaffifīn 27–28]
Thus He describes the best of the three classes of His servants as those brought near.
