—far exalted is He.”

He said: “The same answer applies to His words concerning someone at the point of death:

‘And We are nearer to him than you, but you do not see’ (85) [al-Wāqiʿah 85].

That is, through His knowledge of him and power over him, since they have no means of helping him or warding off death from him. Allah Most High has also said:

‘Our messengers take his soul, and they never neglect their duty’ (61) [al-Anʿām 61].

And He said:

‘Say: The Angel of Death, who has been put in charge of you, will take your souls’ [al-Sajdah 11].”
