Bayān Talbīs al-JahmiyyaIbn Taimiya

And it is known that iron did not physically descend from heaven to earth. Allah Most High also says:

“And He sent down for you eight mates from among the livestock.” [al-Zumar 6]

It is known that livestock did not descend from heaven to earth.

This may be answered in several ways. First, it may be said: In his statement, “It is known that iron did not descend and that livestock did not descend,” he does not explain how this is known—whether self-evidently or through evidence. If someone were to challenge him, saying, “This is not known to us, since it is possible that the progenitors of these animals descended, just as the progenitors of humans and jinn and the serpent descended, and as is reported concerning the descent of the ram offered as a ransom and of iron from heaven,” he would need something with which to rebut this objection.
