traced back to the Prophet: “Let none of you allow fear of people to prevent him from speaking the truth when he sees or hears something wrong. Allah will say to him, ‘What prevented you from speaking the truth?’ He will reply, ‘My Lord, I feared people.’ Allah will say, ‘Then you should have feared Me more.’” This meaning is conveyed in His words:
“Among the people are those who say, ‘We believe in Allah,’ but when they are harmed for Allah’s sake, they regard persecution by people as though it were Allah’s punishment.” [al-‘Ankabūt 10]
An example concerning matters of fact is Allah Most High’s saying:
“Is not He who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them?” [Yā Sīn 81]
That is, the like of the children of Adam, thus bringing them back to life, as He says:
“Do they not see that Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and was not wearied by their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Yes indeed; He has power over all things.” (33) [al-Ahqāf 33]
Allah Most High also says:
“The creation of the heavens and the earth is indeed greater than the creation of mankind, but most people do not know.” (57) [Ghāfir 57]
“The Hour is certainly coming—there is no doubt about it—but most people do not believe.” (59) [Ghāfir 59]
As for the assumption made by some, such as al-Rāzī, that His words, “to create the like of them,”
