Abd Allāh ibn Idrīs when a man came and asked, ‘Abū Muhammad, what do you say about people who say that the Quran is created?’ He asked, ‘Are they Jews?’ The man replied, ‘No.’ He asked, ‘Are they Christians?’ He replied, ‘No.’ He asked, ‘Then are they Magians?’ He replied, ‘No.’ He asked, ‘Then who are they?’ He replied, ‘They are monotheists.’ He said, ‘These are not monotheists; they are heretics. Whoever claims that the Quran is created has thereby claimed that Allah is created. This is the root of heresy.’”

He said: Wahb ibn Jarīr also said, “The Jahmiyya are heretics. They only mean that He is not above
