the well-known hadith of Abū Razīn al-‘Uqaylī recorded in the Sunan of Abū Dāwūd and Ibn Mājah:

“I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, will each of us see his Lord, alone with Him, on the Day of Resurrection? What sign of that is there in His creation?’ He said, ‘O Abū Razīn, does not each of you see the moon on the night of the full moon, alone with it?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘It is but one of Allah’s creations; Allah is greater.’”
