The first is that this would entail His being in foul, repugnant places and bodies, such as latrines, and inside a person’s belly and mouth. A person knows through his innate disposition and immediate rational awareness that Allah, glorified be He, is far above this. He knows with the certainty of his senses and reason that Allah is not inside him, and that it is not befitting for His Essence to come into contact with impurities or bodily cavities. Indeed, He has kept even His angels—peace be upon them—such as Gabriel and others like him, from entering a house containing a dog or a person in a state of major ritual impurity. It is only devils that frequent latrines, as the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“These latrines are indeed frequented by devils.”
