16
“We do not say, as the Jahmiyyah do, that He inhabits places, mingles with everything, and that it is not known where He is. Rather, we say that He Himself is above the Throne, His knowledge encompasses everything, and His hearing, sight, and power extend to all things. This is the meaning of His words:
‘And He is with you wherever you are.’ [al-Hadīd 4]
“What we have said means that no place lies outside His knowledge and power, and that He perceives all places through His hearing and sight, while He Himself is above the Throne—glory be to Him—and it is as the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said.”
And the following was said by Mu‘ammar ibn Ziyād, the Sufi shaykh in the time of Abū Nu‘aym
