Bayān Talbīs al-JahmiyyaIbn Taimiya

The eleventh argument: Revelation and reason have established that nothing is like Allah, glorified is He, and that no reality resembles His. For if He had an equal—and whatever is possible, necessary, or impossible for one of two equals is likewise possible, necessary, or impossible for the other—then a created being would necessarily possess the necessary existence, beginninglessness, power to create, and all other qualities exclusive to His lordship. Conversely, nonexistence, need, coming into being, and all other attributes of imperfection possible for a created being would be possible for Him. Likewise, whatever is impossible for Him, such as nonexistence, would be impossible for a created being. This would entail that something be both existent and nonexistent, beginningless and brought into being, creator and created, necessary in existence and contingent, among other contradictions.

Since this is so, it is evident that His unlikeness to any created thing is greater than the unlikeness of one created thing to another, for created things share much of what is possible, necessary, or impossible for them.
