perceptible to sight with the words perceptible to hearing.
In Sahīh al-Bukhārī, ‘Ikrimah narrates from Ibn ‘Abbās that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, addressed the people on the Day of Sacrifice, saying, “O people, what day is this?” They replied, “A sacred day.” He asked, “What city is this?” They replied, “A sacred city.” He asked, “What month is this?” They replied, “A sacred month.” He said, “Your blood, your property, and your honour are inviolable among you, as sacred as this day of yours, in this city of yours, in this month of yours.” He repeated this several times, then raised his head and said, “O Allah, have I conveyed the message? O Allah, have I conveyed the message?”
Ibn ‘Abbās said, “By Him in whose hand is my soul, this was indeed his final injunction to his community: ‘Let those present convey it to those absent. Do not become disbelievers after me, striking one another’s necks.’”
Here he tells us that the Prophet raised his head and said, “O Allah, bear witness!”
Sa‘d ibn Abī Waqqās said, “The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, passed by me while I was supplicating with two fingers. He said, ‘Use one finger! Use one finger!’ and pointed with his index finger.” Reported by Imam Ahmad
