Abī Tālib, who said, “The fullness of entering Paradise includes looking upon Allah in His Paradise.”
It is also reported that ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd spoke in the mosque of Kufa, beginning with an oath before relating the report. He said, “By Allah, there is not one of you but that his Lord will be alone with him on the Day of Resurrection, just as each of you is alone with the moon on the night of the full moon.” He continued, “Then He will say, ‘What deceived you concerning Me, O son of Adam?’ three times; ‘How did you answer the messengers?’ three times; and ‘How did you come to know what you knew?’”
It is also reported that Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī was teaching the people their Sunnah and their religion when their eyes turned upward—or he said, they turned their eyes away from him. He asked, “What has turned your eyes away from me?” They replied, “The crescent moon, O governor.” He said, “So that is what drew your eyes away from me?” They replied, “Yes.” He said, “How will it be, then, when you see Allah plainly?”
