‘The Most Merciful rose above the Throne’ {5} [Tā Hā 5]?” He replied, “He is upon His Throne, as He has stated.” The man said, “That is not so. It only means that He took control.” Ibn al-A‘rābī said, “Be silent! What do you know of this? The Arabs do not say that a man has taken control of something unless he has an opponent contesting it with him. Whichever of the two prevails is said to have taken control of it. But Allah has no opponent, and He is upon His Throne, as He has stated.”
