Others said: “The Creator’s extent has neither end nor limit, and He extends in all six directions: right, left, front, back, above, and below.” They said: “Anything of this nature cannot be called a body or described as long, broad, or deep, and has neither bounds nor an axis.”
A group said that their object of worship is space itself—a body in which things inhere, with neither limit nor end. Others said that He is space, but not a body, and that things subsist through Him.
Thus, he reported of these two groups that His extent has no end, although some say that He is a body and others say that He is not. Likewise, he reported of other corporealists that He is a body, present in every place and extending beyond all places, yet nonetheless finite; and of still others that His dimensions equal those of the world.
As for those who say that He is above the Throne, he did not report that they held His extent to be without end. He also reported of Zuhayr al-Atharī and Abū Muʿādh al-Tūmanī
