Allah. This is a universal negation encompassing everything called a thing. Every existent is called a thing, and people agree that every existent other than Allah is a thing. Since the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, denied that any existent thing is above Him, whether a spatial region or anything else, this rules out the existence of spatial regions above Him.
What further clarifies this is that, in this argument, he has established the impossibility of spatial dimensions extending without limit. This also rules out spatial regions extending without limit. He even says that beyond the world there are no spatial regions or dimensions extending without limit. If they insist that beyond the world—which occupies space and is bounded and finite—there are no existent spatial regions, how can they insist that there are existent spatial regions above the Creator of the world?
Indeed, when the philosophers debate this very al-Rāzī and others like him over whether the world could be larger than it is and whether another world like it could be created, he has only been able to establish this against them through arguments of the same kind as his familiar disputations
