Imam 'Abd al-Rahmān ibn Abī Hātim also narrated in his book The Refutation of the Jahmiyyah from Sa'īd ibn 'Āmir al-Duba'ī, the leading authority of Basra in knowledge and piety, who belonged to the generation of the teachers of al-Shāfi'ī, Ahmad, and Ishāq. When the Jahmiyyah were mentioned in his presence, he said:

“What they say is worse than what the Jews and Christians say. The Jews, Christians, and followers of other religions agree with the Muslims that Allah is above the Throne, whereas they say: ‘There is nothing upon it.’”
