that Allah, Blessed and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven, that Allah places His Foot, and other similar hadiths. Abū ‘Abd Allāh said: “We believe in them and affirm their truth, without specifying a modality or a meaning. We reject none of them, and we know that what the Messenger brought is true, provided these reports have authentic chains of transmission. We do not reject Allah’s words. He is to be described only as He has described Himself, without limit or end. There is nothing like Him.”’
