And by this they do not mean that He is in the upward direction existing within the world rather than in the directions of right, left, or below. Rather, He is not within the bodies above the servant’s head, nor those to his right or left. None of these bodies surrounding the servant in the six directions is something in which Allah must be. Nor have I ever known anyone to say that He must be within something existing separately from Him, whether above the servant or below him.

According to them, the Lord must be above the world, which is the upward direction. Being above the world cannot be equivalent, in relation to Him, to being elsewhere.
