The twenty-fourth point: His opponents on the question of seeing Allah said to them:
“The argument you have presented entails that the Creator can be perceived by touch. For through touch we distinguish between something long and something longer, just as we distinguish between them through sight. If this entails that bodies can be seen, it also entails that they can be touched. There is no doubt that through touch we perceive the difference between heat and cold. Since tactile perception relates to bodies and accidents, your entire argument concerning sight applies equally to touch. You must therefore accept that the Creator, exalted is He, can be perceived by touch, which is self-evidently false.”
He replied: “Our companions have accepted this implication, and there is no alternative.”
