of agreement and difference, much agreement and disagreement has arisen among people. Whoever understands where the two agree and differ will be freed of doubts concerning these perplexing matters.
The point of this argument is that what is said concerning matters on which all people agree—some of which every rational person must affirm of every existing thing—also applies to matters disputed between those who affirm the divine attributes and those who deny them. Thus, no one denies any of the attributes mentioned in the revealed texts, or interprets them contrary to their meaning, to escape an implication he rejects, without being committed, in what he affirms, to the equivalent of what he sought to escape in what he denies.
Glory be to Him from whom there is no refuge except with Him! O Allah, we seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and in Your pardon from Your punishment. We seek refuge in You from You. We cannot praise You adequately; You are as You have praised Yourself.
