Likewise, ‘Abdullāh ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal reported in his Book of the Sunnah that the renowned imam ‘Abd al-Rahmān ibn Mahdī said:

“Among the adherents of deviant doctrines, none are worse than the followers of Jahm. They work their way round to saying that Allah did not speak to Moses, and they work their way round to saying that there is nothing in heaven and that Allah is not upon the Throne. I hold that they should be called upon to repent. If they repent, well and good; otherwise, they are to be put to death.”
