and other Andalusian scholars, and the view expressed by al-Khattābī in Shi'ār al-Dīn (The Emblem of Religion). Then, after recounting fourteen views, he said:

“The clearest view is that jointly attested by the Quranic verses, the reports, and the virtuous and righteous: that Allah is upon His Throne, as He has stated in His Book and through His Prophet, without specifying how, distinct from all His creation. This is the position of the righteous predecessors, as trustworthy narrators have transmitted from them.”
