below, for Allah Most High has power over all things.

Then Abū al-Hasan al-Ash'arī said:

Chapter: Discussion of the Face, the Two Eyes, and Sight

Allah, blessed and exalted, said:

“Everything will perish except His Face.” [al-Qasas 88]

And He, glorified be He, said:

“And there will remain the Face of your Lord, full of Majesty and Honour.” {27} [al-Rahmān 27]

He thus declared that He has a Face that neither passes away nor perishes. And He Most High said:

“Sailing under Our Eyes.” [al-Qamar 14]

He thus spoke of the two Eyes. Allah—exalted be His remembrance—has an Eye and a Face, as He has said, without delimitation or specification of modality.

And He, glorified be He, said:

“And be patient with your Lord’s judgment, for you are under Our Eyes.” [al-Tūr 48]

And He said:

“And so that you might be brought up under My Eye.” [Tā Hā 39]
