from Abd Allāh ibn Masūd, who said:
“Between heaven and earth is a journey of five hundred years; between every two heavens is a journey of five hundred years; and the depth of each heaven is five hundred years’ journey.” Abū al-Nadr said: “He means its thickness.”
“Between the seventh heaven and the Kursī is five hundred years’ journey, and between the Kursī and the water is five hundred years’ journey. The Throne is above that, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is upon the Throne; none of your deeds is hidden from Him.”
Abd al-Wahhāb said: “This is how Islam is understood.”
Then al-Asharī said:
“Further evidence: Scholars have narrated from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
عن عبد الله بن مسعود قال:
«ما بين السماء والأرض مسيرة خمسمائة عام، وما بين كل سمائين مسيرة خمسمائة عام، وبُصر كل سماء خمسمائة عام»
قال أبو النضر: يعني غلظة،
«وما بين السماء السابعة وبين الكرسي خمسمائة عام، وما بين الكرسي والماء خمسمائة عام، والعرش فوق ذلك، والله عز وجل على العرش لا يخفى عليه من أعمالكم شيء»
،
وقال عبد الوهاب:
هكذا يعرف الإسلام.
ثم قال الأشعري:
«دليل آخر: روت العلماء عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم
