the Obstinate, Concerning His Fabrications against Allah Regarding Divine Oneness. He mentioned someone in his region who had openly opposed the Sunnah and transmitted reports using the statements of Bishr al-Marīsī, and had written a work on the subject. He went on to say:

“This opponent opened his book with words of his own, elaborating on al-Marīsī’s discourse, misleading the ignorant through his presentation of what he understood, and giving the ignorant in his circle and the naive around him the impression that Jahm’s and al-Marīsī’s doctrine of divine oneness was like some
