the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) until we reached al-Kadīd—or he said, Qudayd—where he praised Allah and extolled Him, then said:
“When a third of the night has passed—or he said, two-thirds—Allah descends to heaven and says: ‘Who will call upon Me so that I may answer him? Who will seek My forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Who will ask of Me so that I may give to him?’—until dawn breaks.”
Another proof:
Allah says:
“They fear their Lord above them.” [al-Nahl: 50]
And He says:
“The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him.” [al-Ma‘ārij: 4]
And He says:
“Then He turned to heaven while it was smoke.” [Fussilat: 11]
And He says:
“Then He established Himself above the Throne—the Most Merciful—so ask about Him one well informed (59).” [al-Furqān: 59]
And He says:
“Then He established Himself above the Throne. You have no protector or intercessor besides Him.” [al-Sajdah: 4]
All of this indicates that He, exalted is He, is in heaven, established above His Throne, and heaven
