the Jahmiyyah: “ʿAlī ibn al-Hasan al-Sulamī narrated to us: I heard my father say that Hishām ibn ʿUbayd Allāh—namely, al-Rāzī, an associate of Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Shaybānī—imprisoned a man for adopting Jahmī doctrines, and the man repented.
