Bayān Talbīs al-JahmiyyaIbn Taimiya

Thus, whoever claims that Allah has no limit has rejected the Quran and claimed that He is nothing, for Allah Most High has described the limit of His place in many passages of His Book, saying:

“The Most Merciful rose over the Throne” {5} [Tā Hā 5].

“Do you feel secure from Him who is in heaven?” [al-Mulk 16].

“They fear their Lord above them” [al-Nahl 50].

“I will take you and raise you to Myself” [Āl Imrān 55].

“To Him ascends good speech” [Fātir 10].

All these passages, and others like them, bear witness to and provide evidence of the limit. Whoever does not acknowledge it has disbelieved in the revelation of Allah Most High and denied His verses.

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “Allah is above His Throne, above His heavens.” He also asked the black slave woman, “Where is Allah?” She replied, “In heaven.”
