I say: These are his words: “We have already reported that those who deny corporeality say that the Creator is neither a body nor bounded nor finite. We shall now report the views of the corporealists and their disagreements concerning corporeality.”
He said: “The corporealists differed among themselves concerning corporeality, whether the Creator—exalted and holy is He—has a determinate magnitude, and what His magnitude is, holding sixteen views. Hishām ibn al-Hakam said that Allah is a bounded body, broad, deep, and long, His length equal to His breadth and His breadth equal to His depth; a radiant light possessing a determinate magnitude, meaning that He has dimensions of length, breadth, and depth which He does not exceed, occupying one place rather than another. He is like a pure ingot, gleaming like a round pearl on all sides, possessing color, taste, scent, and a tactile quality. His color, taste, scent, and tactile quality are identical, and He Himself is color; he did not affirm any color other than Him. He moves and remains still, stands and sits.”
