He then said:
“An account of the position of Zuhayr al-Atharī. As for the followers of Zuhayr al-Atharī, Zuhayr maintained that Allah Most High is everywhere, while also being established over His Throne; that He is seen with the eyes, without specifying how; that He exists in His essence everywhere; that He is neither a body nor bounded; and that neither indwelling nor contact can apply to Him. He maintains that He will come on the Day of Resurrection, as He says:
‘And your Lord comes, and the angels, rank upon rank.’ {22} [al-Fajr 22]
This is without specifying how. He maintains that the Quran is speech that originated but was not created, and that the Quran exists in many places at the same time. Allah’s will and love subsist in Allah Most High. He affirms an exception, as do those Murjiʾah who affirm an exception and whose position concerning the threat of punishment we have related. Regarding divine decree, he adopts the position of the Muʿtazilah.”
He also mentioned that Zuhayr’s position concerning faith agrees with that of the Murjiʾah.
