4 – With its chain of transmission: ʿUmar sent for Abū Sufyān to console him on the death of his son Yazīd. Abū Sufyān asked, “Commander of the Believers, whom have you placed over his post?” ʿUmar replied, “I have appointed his brother Muʿāwiyah. Your two sons are upright men, and it is not permissible for us to remove an upright man.”
