Hilm Mu'awiyaIbn Abi al-Dunya

21 – Through his chain of transmission he narrated from al-Mughīrah who said: Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī and Ibn Jaʿfar sent word to Muʿāwiyah asking for money. Muʿāwiyah forwarded one hundred thousand—some say one hundred thousand to each of them. When ʿAlī learned of this he said to them, “Have you no shame? The very man whose eye we keep poking morning and evening, and you go to him for money?” They replied, “You have withheld it from us, whereas he has been generous to us.”
