1 – With its chain of transmission: It is related that when Muʿāwiyah was mentioned in the presence of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, he said, “Let us refrain from disparaging the young man of Quraysh, the son of its chief—one who laughs even in anger, who can only be reached when he is pleased, and who never takes what is above his head except from beneath his own feet.”
