Hilm Mu'awiyaIbn Abi al-Dunya

15 – Through his chain of transmission he reported: Muʿāwiyah once set out for the pilgrimage. When he reached al-Radm, al-Ḥusayn seized the halter of his mount and made it kneel, then spoke with him in private for a long while before departing. Muʿāwiyah thereupon prodded his riding beast and continued on his way. ʿAmr ibn ʿUthmān said, “Al-Ḥusayn makes you dismount and you let him go unpunished—he, the son of Abū Ṭālib!⦗23⦘” Muʿāwiyah replied, “Spare me any talk of ʿAlī. By God, he did not leave me until I feared he would kill me; and had he killed me, none of you would have prospered. Know this: the Banū Hāshim have a day in store for you.”
