10 – With his chain of transmission: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr, while giving a sermon, mentioned Muʿāwiyah and said, “May Allah have mercy on the son of Hind. I would have loved for him to remain with us as long as even a single stone of Mount Abū Qubays endures, and to remain upon the same state in which he parted from us. By Allah, he was exactly as Bathāʾ al-ʿUdhri described:
He who mounts the pulpits, awe-inspiring—
a noble man, his sermon ringing clear;
To him the lead-lines of speech return
when the torrent of oratory goes astray.”
