like one who owns everything. All creation is Allah’s alone: He causes death and grants life, impoverishes and enriches, bestows health and sends illness. He initiates favors for whom He wills, selects whom He wills for the Messengership, supports him with success, fills his heart with light, shields him from sin, and sets before him and behind him a vigilant guard of angels. Had He not willed disobedience to occur, He would not have fashioned them in a way inclined to it, nor implanted within them the faculty of desire—whereas He created the angels free of it—nor given their enemy power over them and then commanded them to be on their guard.
