This was taken as evidence of his prophethood: that the one who came to him was an angel from Allah, whereas the one who came to Musaylimah was a devil.
This is why magic exercises its power and has its greatest effect at night rather than by day. Among its practitioners, nocturnal magic is considered particularly powerful. Likewise, darkened hearts are the dwelling places, homes, and refuges of devils. They roam within them and exercise control over them just as someone controls the house he inhabits. From this, you can understand the wisdom behind seeking refuge in the Lord of daybreak in this passage.
Daybreak is the dawn, when light first appears. It drives away the army of darkness and the hosts of those who spread corruption at night. Every wicked person, mischief-maker, thief, and highway robber retreats to a hiding place, shelter, or cave. Allah therefore commanded His servants to seek refuge in the Lord of the light that overcomes and dispels darkness, defeating its hosts and armies.
For this reason, He, glorified be He, mentions in every revealed Book that He brings His servants out of darkness into light, while leaving the disbelievers in the darkness of their disbelief. Allah Most High says:

He Most High also says:
6:122 “Is one who was dead, then We gave him life and a light by which to walk among people, like one who remains in darkness, unable to emerge from it?”
Concerning the deeds of the disbelievers, He says:
24:40 “Or like darkness in a deep sea, covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds—layers of darkness, one above another. If someone stretches out his hand, he can scarcely see it. Whoever Allah does not grant light has no light.”
Before this, describing the people of faith and their light, He said:
