the Book of Allah, the Almighty—namely, al-Tafsīr al-Qayyim by Imam Ibn al-Qayyim.
Critically editing, studying, and explaining a work of such importance requires painstaking effort in collating its printed texts to establish an accurate text free from errors, since the original manuscript is not available to us.
The noble Prophetic hadiths included in this book have been checked against the collections of authentic hadith cited as their sources. This was necessary because some earlier scholars relied on memory and memorization when transmitting these hadiths, while copyists reproduced the shapes of words whose correct forms they could not discern. As the text passed from copyist to reviser, the original word was lost and replaced by a new one bearing no relation to it.
Likewise, the Quranic verses were checked for accuracy against the Madinah Mushaf, which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia deserves thanks for printing and overseeing, as it is the finest printed edition of the Quran in textual accuracy and print quality.
The Bureau of Arabic and Islamic Studies and Research, which has undertaken to serve this upright religion and the pure Prophetic Sunnah and to make works of Arab and Islamic heritage available, has spared no effort in preparing the works of this great heritage that it has supplied to Arab and Lebanese publishing houses. It has entrusted this work to a number of distinguished scholars active in critical editing and authorship.
