Surah Maryam
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
[Surah Maryam (19): verse 39]
“And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be decided, while they are heedless and do not believe.” (39)
Abū Sa'īd al-Khudrī reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:
“Death will be brought on the Day of Resurrection in the form of a black-and-white ram and placed between Paradise and Hell. It will be said, ‘O people of Paradise, do you recognize this?’ They will stretch their necks and look, saying, ‘Yes, this is death.’ Then it will be said, ‘O people of Hell, do you recognize this?’ They will stretch their necks and look, saying, ‘Yes, this is death.’”
He said: “Then the order will be given for it to be slaughtered, and it will be slaughtered.” He said: “Then it will be said, ‘O people of Paradise, eternity with no death! O people of Hell, eternity with no death!’”
Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) recited:
“And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be decided, while they are heedless and do not believe.”
Reported by both al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
The two Sahīh collections also relate from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:
“The people of Paradise will enter Paradise, and the people of Hell will enter Hell. Then a caller will stand between them and say, ‘O people of Paradise, there is no death! O people of Hell, there is no death!’ Everyone will remain forever where they are.”
He also reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:
“When the people of Paradise have entered Paradise and the people of Hell have entered Hell, death will be brought and placed between Hell and Paradise. Then a caller will proclaim, ‘O people of Paradise, there is no death! O people of Hell, there is no death!’ The people of Paradise will grow more joyful, and the people of Hell will grow more sorrowful.”
Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) also reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)
