Allah, Most High, says in refutation of the polytheists who deny this testimony:
38:27 “We did not create the heaven and the earth and all that lies between them in vain. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve. So woe to those who disbelieve because of the Fire!”
He also says:
46:1–3 “Hā Mīm. The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise. We did not create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them except in truth and for an appointed term. Yet those who disbelieve turn away from what they have been warned of.”
He also says:
10:5 “He is the One who made the sun a shining radiance and the moon a light, and determined its phases so that you might know the number of years and the reckoning of time. Allah did not create this except in truth. He explains the signs for people who know.”
He also says:
30:8 “Have they not reflected within themselves? Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them except in truth and for an appointed term. Yet many people deny the meeting with their Lord.”
He also says:
15:85 “We did not create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them in play. We created them only in truth.”
Such statements are frequent in the Quran.
The truth upon which, and for whose sake, the heavens and the earth were created is oneness and its due rights, including commands and prohibitions, reward and punishment. Divine law and decree, creation, and reward and punishment are founded upon justice and oneness, and proceed from them both. This is the straight path upon which the Lord, glorified and exalted is He, is. Allah, Most High, relates that His prophet Hud said:
11:56 “I have put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no living creature that He does not hold by its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.”
He, glorified is He, is thus on a straight path in His words and deeds: He speaks the truth and acts with justice.
6:115 “The word of your Lord has been perfected in truth and justice. None can change His words. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
33:4 “Allah speaks the truth, and He guides to the way.”
The straight path upon which our Lord, blessed and exalted is He, is, therefore, is what oneness and justice entail. Allah, Most High, says:
16:76 “Allah presents the example of two men: one is mute, unable to do anything, and a burden upon his master. Wherever his master sends him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice and is on a straight path?”
