In all of this there is a lesson for people of insight. Through the visible relics that can still be seen upon the earth, and through mass-transmitted reports, mankind has come to know the ultimate fate of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and those who followed them, as well as the fate of those who denied them. They have witnessed how Allah honored and supported the former, and how He punished and humiliated the latter. They have likewise observed what befell the just and benevolent—whether rulers or their subjects—and what befell the oppressive and wicked among both groups. This pattern is found among every nation, Arab and non-Arab alike: Persians, Romans, Turks, Indians, Abyssinians, Berbers, and the rest.
Allah the Exalted says:
“And if those who disbelieved had fought against you, they would certainly have turned and fled; then they would have found no protector and no helper. Such is the established way of Allah that has passed before, and you will never find any change in the way of Allah.”
He also says:
“If the hypocrites, those whose hearts are diseased, and the alarm-mongers in the city do not desist, We shall surely incite you against them; then they will not remain your neighbors there except for a little while—accursed. Wherever they are found they shall be seized and slain relentlessly. Such has been the way of Allah with those who passed on before, and you will never find any change in the way of Allah.”
And He, Most High, says:
“They swore by Allah their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them they would surely be more guided than any other community. Yet when a warner came to them, it only increased them in aversion—behaving arrogantly in the land and plotting evil; but the evil plot engulfs none but its authors. So are they awaiting anything except the way of the former peoples? You will never find any change in the way of Allah, nor will you ever find any alteration in the way of Allah.”
And He, the Exalted, also says: “Indeed …”
