Abū Bakr al-Ṭurṭūshī, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Māzarī, and Ibn Ḥamdīn of Córdoba likewise denounced him—some even composing treatises on the matter. His own disciple, Abū Bakr Ibn al-ʿArabī, joined them, to the extent that our teacher Abū Ḥāmid remarked: “He plunged into the very belly of the philosophers; when he sought to emerge, he could not.” Others, too, voiced their objections to him.
