Such a description cannot possibly apply to the so-called Active Intellect, for it is not beheld in two distinct places, nor does it possess wings. These people even claim that the prophets conveyed to mankind statements that were, in fact, false, doing so for the people’s own benefit. They sometimes dress this up more elegantly, asserting that the prophets did not disclose the actual realities; rather, they employed figurative illustrations and imaginative representations concerning faith in Allah and the Last Day so that the masses might profit by them. As for the true reality, they say, the prophets did not reveal it, nor can it be made known to ordinary folk. Yet it is self-evident, from the very religion brought by the Messengers, that this notion is utterly false, and we have set out its refutation in detail elsewhere.
