Also attributed to him:
64- “Indeed, [at] * the end of time, the reward of one of them will be like that of seventy of you.” He was addressing the Companions, who asked, may Allah be pleased with them: “[Of them] **?”
He replied: [“Of you”—three times] *** “Because you**** have people to help you do good, whereas they will have no one to help them do good.”
The writer does not recall the wording of this hadith. If it has been transmitted, he asks for some explanation of it: is the reward of one person at the end of time like that of seventy of the Companions?
⦗88⦘ This is in the Sunan collections, for he said:
“The one among them who acts will have the reward of fifty of you.”
This means that whoever, [in] (3) that era, performs a deed like one that any of you performs today will have the reward of fifty, because Islam will be a stranger and helpers will be few. But at the end of time, no one will match the totality of the deeds performed by the earliest forerunners, such as Abū Bakr and Umar [and Uthmān and others] *****. Yet a later person may perform some of what one of them performed and receive, for that deed, many times the reward received by that Companion, without thereby being equal to the earliest forerunners.
