Among them:
19- “O Allah, You have brought me out of the place dearest to me, so let me dwell in the place dearest to You.”
This [hadith] * is baseless—a lie. Rather, it is authentically reported in al-Tirmidhī and elsewhere that he said to Mecca**:
⦗66⦘ “By Allah, you are indeed the most beloved of Allah’s lands to Allah.” He also said: “You are indeed the land dearest to me.”
Thus he stated that it is the land most beloved to Allah and to himself.

* An addition from the al-Dār al-Misriyyah al-Lubnāniyyah edition; the Dār al-Āthār edition reads al-hadīth (“the hadith”).
** The Dār al-Āthār edition reads bi-Makkah (“in Mecca”).
