This meaning is conveyed in a well-known hadith recorded in the Sunan collections:
“Indeed, Abū Bakr was weighed against this community and outweighed it.”

* The al-Dār al-Misriyyah al-Lubnāniyyah and Dār al-Āthār editions read ʿalā dhālika (“than that”) instead of ʿalā īmān al-nās (“than the faith of the people”).
ومنها: ١٨- «لَوْ وُزِنَ إِيمَانُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بِإِيمَانِ النَّاسِ لَرَجَحَ ⦗٦٥⦘ إِيمَانُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَلَى إِيمَانِ النَّاسِ*» .
هذا قد جاءَ معناه في حديث معروف في السنن:
«إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وُزِنَ بِهَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ فَرَجَحَ» .
