and strove to procure them, for they contained immense benefits drawn from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ.
Some biographers counted his writings at more than five hundred volumes.
Al-Dhahabi said, “It is quite possible that his works to this day reach five hundred volumes” (26).
He also remarked, “His compositions have travelled the lands, and they may well number three hundred volumes” (27).
His student al-Bazaar stated, “As for his authored and compiled works, they are too many for me to enumerate or to recall all their titles. In fact, most people would be unable to do so, for they are exceedingly numerous, both large and small” (28).
Several of his pupils attempted to list them—al-Bazaar in Al-Aʿlām al-ʿAliyyah (29), Ibn ʿAbd al-Hādī in Al-ʿUqūd al-Durrīyah (30), and Ibn al-Qayyim in a dedicated epistle in which he recorded three hundred and forty-one (31) of Shaykh al-Islam’s works.
Among these priceless writings are:
- Darʾ Taʿāruḍ al-ʿAql wa-l-Naql (Dispelling the Conflict Between Reason and Revelation).
- Iqtiḍāʾ al-Ṣirāṭ al-Mustaqīm li-Mukhālafat Ahl al-Jaḥīm (The Necessity of the Straight Path in Opposing the People of Hellfire).
- Al-Ṣārim al-Maslūl ʿalā Shātim al-Rasūl (The Drawn Sword Against the Reviler of the Messenger).

…and many other blessed and beneficial books.
