Fourth Principle – The pitfalls that befall anyone who assumes that the import of the texts on the divine attributes is anthropomorphic likeness.
This becomes clear through the fourth principle: many people imagine—regarding some of the attributes, or many of them, or most of them, or even all of them—that they resemble the attributes of created beings. Wanting then to negate what they have imagined, they fall into four distinct pitfalls.
- The first is that they have already likened what they understood from the texts to the attributes of creatures, and have concluded that the very meaning of the texts is such anthropomorphic comparison.
