The true religion of Allah is nothing other than what He sent with His messengers and revealed in His scriptures. That is the Straight Path; it is likewise the path trodden by the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—the best generation, the most excellent community, and the most honored of all created beings after the prophets. The Exalted said: “The vanguard—the first of the Emigrants and the Helpers—and those who follow them with excellence, Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him” (Q 9:100). Thus Allah declared His absolute pleasure with the earliest forerunners, and He expressed His pleasure with those who follow them in excellence. The Prophet ﷺ also affirmed in sound narrations: “The best of generations is the one to which I was sent, then those that follow them, then those that follow them.”
