Allah, Mighty and Majestic, mentions of Dhu’l-Nūn (Jonah) that he cried out from the depths of darkness, “There is no deity but You; glory be to You! I have indeed been among the wrongdoers.” He then says: “So We answered him and delivered him from distress, and thus do We deliver the believers.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “The supplication of my brother Dhu’l-Nūn—no person in hardship ever recites it without Allah relieving him of his distress.”
